Patients in intensive care units need full time surveillance, so the intensive care unit is highly staffed and full of technical equipment. Hygiene and infection control is a priority so surfaces are often hard to be totally cleanable. The hard surfaces increase noise levels which affect rest and sleep quality.

Research has shown that use of highly absorbing material in ICUs lowers patients’ blood pressure, increases wellbeing for staff and reduces readmission rates.

Room acoustics

Create quietness

Patients who sleep well make a more complete recovery during their hospital stay. To aim for the lowest sound level possible you need to use high performing absorbers, preferably in the ceiling.

Patient safety

A good acoustic environment supports the staff in detecting and analysing alarms and calls from patients. Flawless communication is important during shift changes and handing over patient details. Wall panels located where the staff is communicating will provide the desired speech comfort.
